Exodus 33:13 “Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight. Consider too, that this nation is Your people.”
This is a timeless prayer. This is a prayer not limited to any culture. The fact that it is universally applicable speaks to its value to a wide range of people.
As I look not to the question, “what can I know about God”, but rather, “How can I know and love God”, I see how this verse may be employed.
By prayer we can all ask this same question, “let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight”. As I have thought for the last bit, I can not think of a more basic prayer, or one that is more applicable, over and over, as we see the works of God. As Christ said on earth,
- John 10:25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father’s name, these testify of Me.
- John 15:10 “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love
- John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
- John 14:8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
